Plaid Boro Cloth, Sunrise
Considerations:
✓ Vintage
✓ Handcrafted
✓ Environmentally Conscious
The Plaid Boro Cloth, Sunrise is one of our favorite vintage boros and is one of the most unique due to its color palette. Boro cloth are a traditional Japanese craft created by up-cycling fabrics over generations. The cloth is created by patching and mending layers of handwoven antique and vintage textile remnants. We think of boro cloth as a conversation, a beautiful work of art created with time. This piece is a one of a kind, five panel boro from 1920. The boro has been repaired in multiple locations with a tonal fabric. The artisan repaired each area with a high level of detailed sashiko, reinforcing and adorning the mended area. This boro is double sided in the same fabric front and back, making it a medium weight cloth. Due to the nature of these traditional textiles, there may be areas with wear, staining, and holes. We feel these imperfections help to tell the history of the piece. We recommend using as a throw or bed topper. One of a kind.
