General

Quality standards

All pieces in the Slow Roads shop have been selected and inspected to meet our quality standards and expectations.

New pieces are made by artists, artisans, craftspeople and designers and are selected for their creative integrity and artistic value. We produce and purchase pieces that lean organic in nature, and we champion work that bears imperfections.  

Purchasing with Slow Roads means investing in products built to last. If there is a defect with the product, it is critical to identify the issue and report it to our Customer Service team at customerservice@slow-roads.com within 20 days of receipt. 

If you are holding items for a longer term install date, it is important to remember that goods need to be unboxed and examined upon delivery to the shipping location on the order.


Vintage & Antique Objects

Vintage and antique pieces naturally show irregularities due to age and use over time. We do not alter or restore any items unless specifically noted in the product description. All items are sold as found.

Condition Guide: 

  • Excellent: Highest quality standard.

  • Good: Meets quality standards but shows signs of weathering or use.

Prices

Product prices shown on the website exclude shipping and taxes.

All United States customers are informed of all fees, taxes, and delivery costs before completing their purchase.  International customers outside of the United States must pay VAT taxes upon arrival. In rare instances (usually related to shipping artwork or shipping to Alaska or Hawaii) delivery costs can fluctuate and may require additional shipping fees to ensure safe arrival. If there’s a significant difference in shipping costs after purchase, we will contact you before shipping to get your approval for any extra charges. The customer is responsible for these fees. 

 

Holds

Due to the fact that many of our items are one-of-a-kind or limited in quantity, Slow Roads is unable to hold or reserve products.


Returns & Exchanges

General Policy

All returns must be approved by Slow Roads. To initiate a return, please contact us at customerservice@slow-roads.com within 20 days of your purchase date.

We do not issue refunds, but we’re happy to offer store credit for most items.

 

Return Conditions

  • Items must be returned in original condition and packaging.

  • Returns must be shipped via UPS. If shipped with another carrier other than UPS, an additional fee of 10% of the item’s pre-tax retail price may be deducted from your store credit.

  • Items returned with missing parts or showing wear or damage may be denied or issued partial credit at Slow Roads’ discretion.

  • We do not offer free exchange shipping. Shipping fees are non-refundable. Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs.

  • Please note that Slow Roads is not responsible for lost or damaged return shipments.

 

Non-Returnable Items

Please note, the following items are final sale and cannot be returned:

  • Gallery, Art & Objects: Includes Paintings, Sculptures, Objects, Prints, and Vintage

  • “Made to Order” and “Made for You” Items: Includes (but not limited to) Lighting, Rugs, Sheepskin Rugs, Chair Pads, Upholstery and Furniture.

  • Items that are collaborations. This is denoted by a Slow Roads x Partner Name label (for example, Slow Roads x Field Studies Flora).

  • Items with a "Natural / Unlacquered Brass" finish: Brass ages uniquely over time. Because of this inherent material characteristic, these products cannot be returned or exchanged.

  • Rug Pads are not returnable once they’re removed from their packaging. 

  • Specialty Packaged Items: Includes Paper Lanterns, Wreaths, and Garland once opened.

  • All items on sale including “Sample Sale, Seconds and Mark Downs” are non-returnable.


Restocking Fees

Some approved returns may be subject to a restocking fee, deducted from your store credit. These include the following:

  • Made to Order Items (approved in rare instances): 25% of pre-tax retail price

  • Armadillo Rugs (Agra, Malawi, Odessa, Meadow, Eden, Willow, Mason, Nest, Reed, Trellis & Sequoia): 15% of pre-tax retail price

  • All other approved returns: 10% of pre-tax retail price

  • Return to sender / missed, refused or held deliveries: 25% of pre-tax retail price

  • Lost packages resulting from a return initiated by the customer—whether due to a return, missed, refused, or held delivery—will only be reimbursed in store credit once a claim has been filed and approved. Final Sale, Made-to-Order, and all other non-returnable items are not eligible for reimbursement if lost.

  • Returns must be shipped via UPS. If shipped with another carrier other than UPS, an additional fee of 10% of the item’s pre-tax retail price may be deducted from your store credit.


Shipping & Delivery

Shipping 

Slow Roads can ship to street addresses in the continental U.S., while deliveries to Hawaii and Alaska require special arrangements. Shipping quotes are available for international destinations. We are unable to deliver to P.O. Boxes or APO/FPO addresses.

Depending on your order, your item(s) will be shipped in one of 3 ways: 

 

Ground & Express Shipping: 

  • Standard delivery


Curbside Shipping:

  • No removal of packaging materials by the delivery team. 

  • May include crate shipping. It's always best to check with the shipping carrier about their preferred process for disposing of or returning the crate.

  • Note, if you are working with a receiving warehouse they will often provide services for disposal of crates/packaging materials.

 

White Glove Shipping (Note, all Cisco and Fredericia items are shipped White Glove). This premium delivery service includes:

  • Blanket wrapping of each item.

  • Placement inside of space. Note, the shipping company will not move other furnishings in the room.

  • Removal of all packaging and debris.

  • No removal of existing items from home (such as sofas, chairs). 

  • Quotes for White Glove Delivery are valid for 30 days.

Trade Clientele 

Items purchased with a Slow Roads Trade account and shipped to a commercial entity (warehouse, freight forwarding service, design studio, retailer etc.) must be unboxed and inspected within 48 hours of delivery. Any issues or damages must be reported to customerservice@slow-roads.com within this timeframe. Slow Roads is not responsible for the condition of goods after this 48 hour inspection period upon the delivery to the address listed on the order. Damage caused by the item(s) being moved to a subsequent location is not the responsibility of Slow Roads.

 

Timing

Orders for in-stock items typically process within 5 business days and ship Monday through Friday.

Made-to-order items ship within the timeframe mentioned on the product pages. On occasion we will have made-to-order items in stock and they will ship faster than expected. If you have concerns about your item arriving early, please contact us at customerservice@slow-roads.com.

Once your order ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking details. Please note that customers are responsible for receiving their packages. If a package is returned because it wasn’t received, you will be responsible for all shipping charges. Shipping fees are non-refundable.

Please note that larger items and artwork may require an additional 5 business days to process due to their size.


Lead Times

Lead times noted are estimated and do not guarantee exact delivery. We do our best to deliver accurate and precise information, however there are forces that can arise that are out of Slow Road’s control, such as custom clearance delays, production timing, weather, or a number of other occurrences.


Additional/Speciality Shipping Charges

Shipping rates to certain regions may vary and some of our items require additional charges to ensure they arrive at your home in safe and sound condition. Large items, artwork, lighting, glass and delicate items may need to be securely carted and packaged, and may require special handling fees. 

In most instances, additional fees will be shown at checkout. If there’s a significant difference in shipping costs after purchase, we will contact you before shipping to get your approval for any extra charges.


International Orders

Slow Roads does not collect VAT or import taxes at checkout. Customers are responsible for paying any duties or taxes when the package arrives. “Return to sender,” missed delivery, refused packages, or unsuccessful delivery attempts resulting in returns to Slow Roads incur a 25% restocking fee as well as any return shipping fees charged to Slow Roads by the carrier.

Customs processing can delay shipments 2-3 weeks (expect 5+ weeks during peak seasons). Estimated delivery times do not include customs delays or packages lost in transit.

Please note that international customers are responsible for all fees, duties, and customs charges. These are not included at checkout.


Artwork

All artwork sold by Slow Roads is authentic and one-of-a-kind, unless otherwise stated. Please note that artwork is non-returnable. 

Artwork created in collaboration with Slow Roads ships directly from our team and may require an additional 5 to 10 business days to process. 

Some artwork may require additional shipping fees to ensure safe arrival. If there’s a significant difference in shipping costs after purchase, we will contact you before shipping to get your approval for any extra charges. The customer is responsible for these fees.

Installed Items

We highly recommend consulting with your general contractor, cabinet maker or installer before purchasing our lighting and/or hardware to ensure proper installation.


Drawings

Slow Roads cannot be held liable for the accuracy of drawings/dimensions provided on our website. The measurements provided are for informational purposes only and should not be considered as absolute values. Please contact Customer Service if you need support with precise measurements: customerservice@slow-roads.com.


Care Instructions

Many Slow Roads products require specific cleaning and maintenance methods. Detailed guidelines for proper care are available here. It's important to follow these instructions diligently. Slow Roads cannot be held liable for damage resulting from incorrect cleaning or maintenance. In most cases improper care of a product will void all warranties. See below for warranty information.

We are providing Proposition 65 warnings to inform consumers that products which include brass components contain chemicals on the State of California’s Proposition 65 list which can cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The State of California has clarified that “the fact that a product bears a Proposition 65 warning does not mean by itself that the product is unsafe.” The law is a “Right to Know” and does not indicate a product is unsafe if used as intended.
