Japanese Umi Fish Banner
Considerations:
✓ Handcrafted
✓ One of a kind
✓ Vintage
The Japanese Umi Banner is a large and very rare textile produced in the 1940s from Japan. It was likely created to be a display banner for a restaurant or market. The piece was created with a wax resist technique and then overdyed with indigo to create the unique fish and waves patterns. The banner is in excellent condition and the indigo is dark throughout with minimal fading, the piece was likely not used or used sparingly and stored away. We recommend using as a statement on a wall at a cottage or beach house. One of a kind.
