Roundhouse Pendant

Handcrafted in North Carolina from Western Red Cedar sourced from British Columbia, the Roundhouse Pendant is a wooden light with a pared-back, architectural profile. The cedar is intentionally band-sawn rather than sanded smooth, leaving a visibly textured surface with natural tool marks, grain variation, and small imperfections. This rougher finish highlights the honesty of the material and ensures no two fixtures are exactly alike, with the level of texture varying subtly based on the individual woodworker’s process.

Offered in two finishes—natural timber oil or Shou Sugi Ban, a traditional Japanese wood-preservation technique—the Roundhouse Pendant is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Shou Sugi Ban involves charring the surface of the wood, creating a burned, blackened finish with tonal variation throughout. Areas where the wood meets or connects may remain uncharred, revealing natural cedar beneath and further emphasizing the handmade nature of the piece. 

In its natural finish, the cedar begins in warm, bright tones and evolves over time. Outdoors, exposure to the elements encourages a gradual patina, shifting from honeyed warmth to a mix of warm and silvery-grey tones before eventually settling into a uniform silver. Indoors, the wood ages more subtly, deepening in color depending on light, touch, and environmental conditions.

The Roundhouse Pendant is DarkSky Certified and wet-location rated.
