Each tradition uses a distinct technique. Kantha quilts are hand-stitched using layers of cotton, Sashiko quilts feature decorative reinforcement stitching rooted in Japanese mending traditions, while block print quilts are created by hand-printing fabric with carved wooden blocks before quilting.
