The Winter Blush Sawtooth Star Quilt is a traditional hand made quilt, made with a variety of cotton fabrics. The design features a elegant arrangement of patterned period fabrics hand sewn in the traditional Sawtooth Star design. The design came from the way that the triangles resembled the teeth of a saw. The Farm and Fireside Magazine first named the Sawtooth Star Block in 1884, the first known recording. However, it does have other names, such as Evening Star, Morning Star, Variable Star, North Star, etc. Sometimes block patterns would be swapped and the quilters wouldn’t know the name, so they got renamed. The palette is made up of soft earthy colors of rose pink, peach and plum mixed with shades of sand, brown and ecru. The quilt has a peach and brown cotton backing with a small overlapping squares motifs. The quilt is estimated to be from the 1890s. One of a kind.
