This vintage Ocean Quilt, made in the early 1900s, is constructed from a mix of cotton fabrics, many of which are printed calicos arranged in triangular formations. The term “calico cutter” refers to this patchwork of varied printed cottons, commonly used in traditional American quilting. The front displays an ocean-inspired palette of blues, neutrals, and ivory set against a deep blue ground, while the reverse is a solid cotton backing in deep blue. One of a kind.
