The Juniper Berry Log Cabin Quilt is a traditional hand made quilt, made with a variety of cotton and wool fabrics. The design features a elegant arrangement of patterned period fabrics in the traditional Courthouse Steps style a variation of the classic Log Cabin stye made popular in 1863, to help raise funds for the Union Army during the American Civil War. It was thought to be in honor of Abraham Lincoln, who grew up in a log cabin. The quilt has a mixed palette of bold multi colors and earthy colors, from fire red, navy blue and sky blue paired with natural shades of ecru, brown and black. The quilt has an ecru, sky blue and dark brown plaid backing. The quilt is estimated to be from the 1870s. One of a kind.
