The Night Sky Window Quilt is a traditional hand made quilt, made with a variety of cotton, silk, wool and corduroy fabrics. The design features a elegant arrangement of patterned period fabrics in a Cathedral Window quilt pattern, a relatively new quilt design, with first mentions going back to the 1930s. Its first mention dates from the 1933 Chicago World Fair. The style of quilting is made by blocks in repetition with a star motif cut through to reveal another layer of fabric. The palette is made up of deep rich earthy colors of periwinkle, plum, ruby red, hunter green, with shades of blue, purple and black. The quilt has a faded pink solid color cotton backing. The quilt features a combination of hand embroidery and hand quilting, estimated to be from the earl 1900s. One of a kind.
