A beautiful study of light and color, this 1956 oil painting by Mats Gustav Andersson Mason depicts apple blossoms in bloom. Painted with bold, dramatic brush strokes, the work features a beautiful limited color palette, interesting composition, and incredible light and depth. Mason was a Swedish painter and draftsman. He studied at Valand's painting school in 1918-1919 followed by André Lhote's art school in Paris. He exhibited at the Fahlcrantz art salon in Stockholm in 1936 and in a large number of hotel exhibitions. He participated in the Salon d'Automne in Paris in 1923, and in collective exhibitions arranged by Sweden's general art association and Roslagen's artists' guild.
