Birds in Flight Sunset Quilt

One of our favorite vintage quilts we've found so far. The Birds in Flight Sunset Quilt is a traditional hand made quilt, made with a variety of cotton fabrics. The design features an elegant arrangement of patterned period fabrics in the traditional Birds in Air quilt pattern made popular in 1800s. The style of quilting is made by blocks of 72 small triangles hand-quilted together across 24 individual squares. The palette is made up of bold earthy colors of navy, black, golden yellow and fire red mixed with natural tones of ecru, ember and sand on an elegant foundation featuring a micro floral ditsy pattern in tones of red, peach and sand. The back of the quilt is made of a slightly off-white unbleached muslin, and has lightweight batting. The quilt is estimated to be from the 1890s. One of a kind.
