Mother Daughter Quilt, 1890's Checkerboard
Considerations:
✓ Vintage
✓ Handcrafted
✓ One of a kind
The Slow Roads Mother Daughter Quilt Collection, was inspired by one of our favorite vintage pieces. A mother created half of a quilt, which was left unfinished until her daughter completed it decades later. The quilt is a coming together of two generations, and it represents the connection of two women and their love for each other.
We have collected unfinished antique American quilts, that we send to expert crafts people at a workshop in Jaipur, India. Using custom block prints and natural dyes, they finish the quilts using hand tied knots in coordinating colors.
The workshop specializes in high-quality textile handiwork and is women-owned and operated. It supports women artisans and traditional handicraft practices throughout Rajasthan, paying fair wages to enable workers to manage household expenses. Each piece is one of a kind.
