This late 19th-century Japanese boro blanket is constructed from layered and patched handwoven textiles, a method originally developed to extend the life of fabric through mending. Composed of indigo-dyed materials, including Shima, a traditional striped weave known for its dimensional surface. Evidence of repair and reinforcement is visible throughout. Finished with a pull tie closure. One of a kind.
