Hand Carved Goose

Our Hand Carved Goose adds a touch of historic novelty to any space. The geese are carved from sustainably harvested and locally sourced Atlantic White Cedar and White Oak. The black version is cedar that has a shou sugi ban finish and is then hand waxed with beeswax. Shou sugi ban is a Japanese technique used to preserve wood by charring it with fire, creating a rich textural finish. The white version is white oak that has been white washed, emulating a traditional picked white oak finish. These finishes showcase the natural beauty and imperfections of wood and subtle carving details. The design is inspired by a historically piece found in Nantucket, Massachusetts. We recommend hanging inside above a doorway or outside under a covered front porch or garage. If hung outside the bird will weather and tarnish, and could cause the piece to potentially crack. The geese are hand carved and finished by artisans in the United States. The sculpture comes with two small cleats on the back for hanging.

Note: Possible imperfections, such as cracks, may be present in the wood of this sculpture as a result of its hand-carved and flame finished process. It should be noted that these cracks are purely cosmetic in nature and do not affect the structural integrity of the piece.
