Kanaamitsuji Hanging Wire Basket
Considerations:
✓ Made for You
✓ Handcrafted
Handcrafted in Kyoto, Japan, this hanging basket is made using traditional Kyo-kanaami metal weaving techniques, a craft with origins dating back over 1,000 years. The basket combines kikudashi chrysanthemum weaving and tortoiseshell weaving, producing a structure that is both visually intricate and functionally durable. The unlacquered brass will naturally develop a patina over time, reflecting the material’s age and use.
Intended for everyday household tasks, it can hold vegetables, herbs, garlic, or other foods while allowing for airflow and drying. Each basket is individually produced by Kanaamitsuji, a second-generation workshop dedicated to evolving traditional wire mesh techniques for contemporary use.
