Beau Ottomans, Auburn Ikat

$1,750.00

Considerations:

✓ Handcrafted

Our Beau Ottomans bring together a range of techniques and craftspeople from around the world. The fabric is handwoven in India and each piece is crafted in Portugal, filled with 100% natural Portuguese cork.

The Auburn Ikat is produced using a warp-printing process in which the design is applied through five overlapping screens to create a soft, diffused pattern. The warp is then re-mounted and aligned, and the weft is replaced by hand to complete the textile.

This process requires a team of three weavers working over the course of a full day to produce a single yard. The result is a durable textile with the depth and variation of traditional ikat, informed by historic Javanese methods.

Fabric designed by Sean Leffers, whose work explores the lineage of global textile traditions through historical research, antique collecting, and contemporary craftsmanship. Drawing inspiration from centuries-old weaving and dyeing techniques, his fabrics bring a sense of depth, provenance, and timelessness to the material.
