Handcrafted in Kyoto, Japan, this basket is produced using traditional Kyo-kanaami metal weaving techniques, a craft with origins over 1,000 years ago. The basket combines kikudashi chrysanthemum weaving with tortoiseshell weaving, creating a durable yet visually intricate form. The unlacquered brass will develop a natural patina over time.
Designed for everyday use, it is suitable for holding vegetables, herbs, garlic, or other items while allowing airflow for drying. Each basket is individually produced by Kanaamitsuji, a second-generation workshop dedicated to evolving traditional wire mesh techniques for contemporary use.
