Rising Sun Quilt

This vintage quilt, made primarily from cotton fabrics, is hand-pieced and hand-quilted. Produced in the 1880s, it features the “Rising Sun” pattern, with each block consisting of a central circle surrounded by triangular or wedge-shaped pieces. The pattern has a long history in American quilting, with examples dating to the early 19th century, and was among the few named quilt blocks before the Civil War. The quilt has a red floral motif border and a solid vintage white fabric backing. The front palette combines neutral tones and shades of blue against a coral pink background. One of a kind.
