This vintage Japanese Sashiko quilt dates to the 1960s and features hand-stitched sashiko embroidery forming geometric patterns. Sashiko is a traditional technique often used to reinforce boro textiles, created by layering, mending, and patching fabric remnants over time. Dyed with natural vegetable pigments, the quilt demonstrates detailed craftsmanship and the deep blue tones that inspired its name, Shinkai (“deep sea”). Can be used as a throw, bedcover, or displayed as textile art. One of a kind.
