This handmade cotton quilt features a traditional Four Patch block pattern, one of the oldest known designs in American patchwork quilting. Composed of period fabrics in soft tones of red clay, indigo blue, oak, umber, and ivory, the geometric arrangement reflects the early use of light and dark divisions in quiltmaking. Visible hand-stitching and subtle variations in fabric and color speak to its handmade construction. Backed in ivory. One of a kind.
