This antique Japanese cabinet (tansu) display box set dates to 1887, during the Meiji Era. The set includes five drawers with black lacquer interiors and traditional ornamental Meiji-era hardware. Wear consistent with age, including two functional drawers. Handwritten Japanese characters appear on the bottom of the piece. One of a kind.
