Established in 1911, Fredericia is known for producing some of the highest quality furnishings in the world. These swatches represent the carefully selected, sustainably sourced woods that define the collection’s material palette. Each finish is thoughtfully applied to specific wood species to highlight natural grain, enhance durability, and honor the integrity of the original design.

Please note that swatches are organized by wood species, with finishes applied to that specific species. While some finishes overlap, not all are available across every wood type. For example, the colored finishes are only available on beech. Variations in grain affect how each finish appears.

Oak

Oiled Natural Oak: Enhances the natural yellow tones of European oak using a clear, natural oil. Creates a smooth, silky surface while improving resistance to water and stains. Will require re-oiling over time.

Oiled Light Oak: A light, natural oil finish with added pigment to enhance lightness and improve lightfastness. Designed to match Oak Lacquered in tone. Regular maintenance with oil is recommended.

Oiled Smoked Oak: Oak is fumed to darken the color and highlight variation, then sealed with natural oil. Color differences are natural and enhance the wood’s character. Requires re-oiling over time.

Black Lacquer: Matte black lacquer (RAL 9005) applied to the oak. Grain remains visible.

Beech

Vintage Lacquer: A specially developed finish that gives beech a timeworn, character-rich depth, as if the lacquer has yellowed and aged naturally over time.

Black Lacquer: Matte black lacquer (RAL 9005) appears more uniform on beech due to its tighter grain.

Light Lacquer: European beech with a fine, even grain is treated with a soft white-pigmented lacquer. This finish brightens the surface while masking light wear and scratches. Ages gracefully over time.

Colors: Treated with a lacquer and soap finish in Heritage Red, Pebble Grey, Indigo Blue or Khaki Green.

Walnut

Oiled Walnut: American walnut with a tight, closed grain. Finished with natural oil for water and stain resistance, resulting in a smooth, tactile surface. Will require re-oiling to maintain appearance.

Ash

White Ash: White lacquer (RAL 9016) applied to ash. Grain remains visible.
