This artist-made koinobori is hand dyed and hand-painted on cotton using sukumo indigo from Tokushima, Japan and the katazome rice-paste resist technique, creating crisp white patterning against deep indigo fields. Accented with gold leaf and finished with red, yellow, and black cord details, the windsock depicts a carp swimming upward beneath a pine motif, symbols of longevity, strength, and perseverance. Originally designed for outdoor display during Children’s Day, this piece is recommended for indoor use only. One of a kind.
