Indigo Shimenawa Tapestry, Large
Considerations:
✓ Handcrafted
This handcrafted Japanese indigo tapestry features a Shimenawa sacred rope motif, a traditional symbol of abundance and connection. Stencil-dyed by a single artisan using fermented Tadeai indigo (Sukumo) from Tokushima, Japan, it is colored exclusively with natural fermented indigo and wood ash lye (no synthetic dyes) creating the deep, luminous hue historically known as “Japan Blue” and cherished for centuries in Japanese textile tradition.
Woven from 100% ramie (Asakibira), a traditional Japanese hemp plain weave with roots in ancient textile history, each tapestry carries its own unique natural character. A rod pocket at the top allows for easy hanging (rod not included). One of a kind.

To help maintain shape, hang the tapestry with a small weight attached to the bottom while drying. Ironing is generally not effective for removing wrinkles.
