Indigo Tenugui Tapestry Panel, Set of 3

$720.00

Considerations:

✓ Handcrafted

This traditional Japanese tenugui is individually hand-dyed by a Japanese artisan using the highest-grade indigo from Tokushima. A rice paste resist technique creates striking white patterns against the rich indigo ground, highlighting the beauty of this centuries-old craft. Designed for everyday living, it can be displayed as wall art or used as a protective layer on a tabletop.

Available in three symbolic designs: the kabuto (samurai helmet) features a plum blossom motif representing renewal and hope; the koinobori (carp streamer) is adorned with pine motifs and depicts an upward-swimming carp, symbolizing longevity, perseverance, and success; and the temari (embroidered ball) combines bamboo, a symbol of growth and resilience, with patterns inspired by the traditional Japanese dyeing art of Tsujigahana. The edges are left raw, allowing the fabric to naturally soften and fray with use. One of a kind.

Care: Due to the nature of indigo dye, some color bleeding may occur during the first few washes. Please wash separately from white or light-colored items for the first one or two washes.(After that, it may be washed together with other items.)
Regular machine washing is acceptable, but gentle soaking is recommended to help preserve the fabric and extend its life.

Please use a mild (neutral) detergent. Do not use detergents containing bleach.
Because of the natural properties of indigo, yellowish residue (alkaline matter from the dye) may occasionally appear on the surface of the fabric. If this occurs, soak the item in lukewarm water with a small amount of detergent for about 20 minutes, then rinse well.

Please be careful when wearing the item while wet from rain or perspiration, as the color may transfer to other materials.

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause fading.Avoid high-temperature or dry environments, and store in a cool, shaded place.
