Antique Japanese Suzu Shrine Bell

This antique Japanese bronze Suzu bell dates to 1804 and was originally crafted for use at a Shinto shrine during the Edo period. Hand hammered with a substantial weight and beautifully aged patina, the bell features a long slit opening, a red and white twisted rope handle, and a partially visible inscription along the middle rim noting the date and donor’s name. Natural wear, water marks, and surface variations reflect its years of use hanging at a shrine, adding to its historical character and authenticity. With its rich tone and striking form, this handcrafted bronze bell is a meaningful decorative object with a story to tell. One of a kind.
