Misty River Valley, Vintage Photo

This antique hand-colored photograph by American photographer Wallace Nutting (1861–1941) depicts a tranquil river winding through an autumn landscape, with distant hills beyond. Hand-tinted in Nutting’s signature soft palette of muted browns, golds, and grey-blues, the photograph has a quietly atmospheric quality. Pencil-signed by Nutting in the lower right, it is mounted on its original mat with blind-embossed border lines and housed in a simple dark wood frame. A fine example of Nutting’s early 20th-century New England landscape work. One of a kind.
