This Safflower Uchishiki Cloth, made in the Kinki region during the late Edo period, is a safflower-dyed uchishiki traditionally used as an altar cloth to cover the top surface of tables and altars in Buddhist halls. The vivid safflower hues create a striking yet ethereal atmosphere, with color that carries both depth and softness across the surface. One of a kind.
