These ceramic incense holders are hand-built by Los Angeles artist Ben Wolf Noam as individual mushroom forms sized to hold standard incense stick. The series began as a winter study, informed by seasonal cycles and the way mushrooms cluster and repeat across forest floors, often reading like small architectural groupings. Each surface is hand-painted, with glazes that range in tone and saturation. Variations in height, proportion, texture, and color are part of the process. No molds are used. One of a kind.
This collection is a part of Slow Roads’ second collaboration with Noam and evolves his single candlesticks into incense holders. When grouped in pairs or small multiples, the differing forms and heights create a layered, forest-like arrangement. Made exclusively for Slow Roads, the pieces pair well with our Incausa and Choju Giga incense.
